Boise Trail DOG is dedicated to dog owner education in order to retain off leash access on Ridge to Rivers trails.
BTD was formed in response to the Foothills Conservation Advisory Committee's working group recommendation that most mid- and lower foothills trails be made on leash. After an uproar from dog owners, FCAC members suggested that dog owners needed to step up to retain the privelege of off leash use on the trails.
We recognize that in order to be involved in the decision making process we need a formal organization to serve as a liaison between the city and dog owners and to assist with outreach and educational efforts.
We have instituted adopt a trail programs, held poop scoops, developed trail etiquette hand outs (thanks erik kingston) and posters, started a lend a leash program (thanks to jodi peterson).
BTD is not affiliated with Parks and Rec, Ridge to Rivers or the City, but recognize that we need to work within the system to protect access.
